Mount Prospect Academy’s STEP Program is located in Campton, N.H. MPA STEP at Campton is currently able to accommodate 4 students. The program will provide short-term treatment, a 30-day period – and in situations where a safe, stable environment is required for permanency reasons, extensions for up to 30 additional days will be considered, if approved. The program maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:2 during waking hours and 1:4 ratio overnight.
The program is also designed for youth that are experiencing permanency disruptions and need a safe, therapeutic living environment. Mount Prospect Academy’s STEP Program at Campton provides a chance for the family, student and other stakeholders to catch their breath while permanency plans are being developed and realized. During this time, students will receive mental health and/ or behavioral treatment individual and group therapy, continued educational services as well as a comprehensive, holistic assessment to review of the impact of trauma on the adolescent.
In addition to clinical and academic services, our students participate in a variety of supervised pro-social and recreational activities with a focus on developing skills taught in a therapeutic setting. This treatment environment aims to provide our students with the skills needed to grow as individuals, stabilize, and then prepare them for the business of life upon discharge from our program.
Students who are safe to attend off-site internship programming will have access to courses in: Automobile Repair, Experiential Science (Outdoor Biology, Physics, and Physical Sciences Adventure Activities), Woodworking, and Animal-assisted Therapies.
